Dear Reader,

If you've ever gotten so lost in a story that you forgot where you were and what time it was, I can safely say we have something important in common. Books have been many things to me through the years, from windows into other worlds to beacons of hope. Some of my very best friends exist only in stories, but that doesn't mean they are any less real. And if, like me, you see the world around you through stories, you know that anything is possible, and the grandest adventures can come from the smallest beginnings.

My greatest hope in writing is to share that feeling of possibility with you, the reader. Susan Sontag once said, "I want to read only what I’ll want to reread—the definition of a book worth reading once." I take her words as a kind of challenge, and hope you will get to the end of my book, not sure where you are or what time it is, knowing only that you want to start back again at page one.

Thank you for reading.

As always,

Andrew
